When Matt Sorensen's father was diagnosed with prostate cancer, Matt watched the medical system process him — not as a person, but as a diagnosis and a number. It was not a cynical experience. It was a clarifying one.
The cancer was treated. Nobody asked why his body had arrived there in the first place.
That question sent Matt on a journey across multiple continents, through dozens of disciplines, and ultimately to a completely different understanding of how the body works and how it heals. He wasn't looking for alternatives to medicine. He was looking for something medicine had left out — the relationship between the inner world of a person and the physical patterns their body holds.
What he found — in movement science, nervous system regulation, visceral manual therapy, nutrition, and the relationship between emotional experience and physical pattern — became Heal Hub, and eventually the Sorensen Method™.
Over 20 years of clinical practice, Matt developed two original frameworks. The Sorensen Method™ is a clinical approach integrating visceral manual therapy, autonomic recalibration, and somatic coaching into a unified sequencing framework. The VAEI™ framework — Viscero-Autonomic Emotional Integration — is the neurophysiological account of why physical and psychological patterns persist, and what it actually takes to shift them.
Matt practices at Heal Hub in Cronulla, Sydney. He teaches CHEK curriculum as Faculty across Australia and internationally, hosts The Body's Compass podcast, and works with clients in person and online.
"Organs, Emotions and Pain: The Hidden Connection Doctors Ignore" — discussing the VAEI™ framework, visceral manual therapy, and the relationship between physical and psychological patterns.
Most practitioners treat the site of the problem. Matt treats the system producing it. The shoulder that returns after every treatment is not a shoulder problem. The anxiety that resolves with breathwork and rebuilds within a week is not a breathing problem. The lower back that rebuilds after every session is not a disc problem. In clinical observation, the body is rebuilding what it needs around an unresolved internal tension.
Every session begins with the question: at which level is the primary maintaining mechanism for this presentation? The answer determines where to start — not where it hurts, but where the pattern is being held. Manual therapy, somatic coaching, and autonomic recalibration are applied in sequence, guided by the Clinical Priority Framework and measured objectively at every session through bilateral blood pressure and HRV tracking.
The work is integrative not because it combines modalities, but because it operates from a unified understanding of why the body holds what it holds — and what it takes for the body to let it go.
No imaging modality measures tension — and tension is what this framework is built to find and address. A scan shows you the structure. It doesn’t show you what the nervous system is protecting, or why the pattern keeps returning after treatment.
