Integrated Somatic Coaching
Coaching that begins where the body points.
What this is
Integrated Somatic Coaching is not talk therapy. It is not life coaching in the conventional sense. It is a clinical coaching approach that uses postural reading, tension patterns, and multiple psychological and energetic maps simultaneously — to identify the pattern that is maintaining the presenting difficulty and help you find your own way through it.
The premise is straightforward: the body describes the psychological theme before words do. The way someone sits, where they hold tension, how they breathe — these are not random. They reflect something specific about the tension being held between two poles of an unresolved experience. The coaching work helps make that tension conscious, so it no longer needs to be held in the body.
Sessions draw on CHEK principles, chakra mapping, TCM organ-emotion relationships, German New Medicine as a question generator, Jungian psychology, the works of Caroline Myss, Joseph Campbell, Arthur Young, John Demartini, and many others — combined with skilled observation and questioning to help you identify and move toward what genuinely matters to you.
The practitioner never tells you what your pattern is. You figure it out. The role of the coach is to ask the question that allows you to arrive at the understanding yourself.
Who this is for
You understand your pattern. You've done therapy, read the books, done the work. But understanding it hasn't shifted it. Something in the body is still holding what the mind has already processed.
You know what you want — or you've stopped letting yourself know. Either way, there is a gap between where you are and where something in you knows you should be. The gap has a specific shape.
The same dynamic keeps appearing — in relationships, at work, in the body. Different circumstances, same feeling. The pattern is not a coincidence. It has an internal logic that can be found.
Already working with Matt clinically? The coaching layer addresses what the hands-on work surfaces but cannot resolve — the meaning layer, the values layer, the question underneath the symptom.
What happens in a session
Every session is different because every person is different. There is no fixed protocol. But the shape of the work tends to follow a consistent logic:
Before a word is spoken about the presenting difficulty, posture and tension zones have already described the psychological theme. The practitioner reads this silently and uses it to locate the conversation.
Chakra territory, TCM organ-emotion patterns, the CHEK framework, German New Medicine conflict themes — each is a different map of the same territory. When multiple maps converge on the same theme, that is the real question underneath the presenting one.
Not the surface question. The one the body has been waiting to be asked. The coaching question is never "what should you do?" It is "what do you already know, and what is stopping you?"
When something genuinely shifts — not just intellectually but in the nervous system — it is visible. The eyes brighten. The breathing changes. Something settles in the body that wasn't settled before. That is the moment the session has been working toward.
The diagnostic maps
No single map is used in isolation. The practitioner reads all available maps simultaneously and looks for convergence — the point at which multiple systems are pointing toward the same theme.
The body describes the psychological theme before words do. Solar plexus guarding, upper chest breathing, posterior tension — each has a specific emotional signature.
Seven energy centres, each with a corresponding psychological territory, emotional theme, and compass question that locates the coaching conversation.
Liver carries anger and grief. Kidneys carry fear. Stomach carries worry. Lungs carry unexpressed loss. Each organ-emotion relationship generates a specific coaching question.
Used as a question generator only — to identify the biological conflict type that might be active and ask whether it resonates. Not a diagnostic system.
Love, Forces, Choices, Doctors, Foundation Principles, Chakras. The structured entry point for understanding what this person loves, what forces are acting on them, and what choices they are not making.
Where did this person give their power away, and to whom? What have they disowned that is running them from underneath? The self-esteem and shadow layers.
When something has genuinely shifted — not just been understood but integrated at the level of the nervous system — it is observable. The eyes brighten. The breathing drops from the upper chest into the diaphragm. Something visibly settles. This is not a metaphor. It is a specific physiological event: the ventral vagal social engagement system activating, the autonomic nervous system recalibrating. This is the moment the coaching has been working toward.
Session formats
Manual therapy and coaching combined in one session. The physical work creates a window of autonomic availability; the coaching question lands in that window. The two approaches are not separate — they are two entry points into the same loop.
No hands-on work. The body is read through posture and observation. Multiple diagnostic maps are consulted. The coaching conversation does the work. Available in-person at Cronulla or online.
What this is not
Integrated Somatic Coaching is not psychotherapy, counselling, or medical treatment. It is a coaching approach that uses somatic observation and skilled questioning to help you identify what is genuinely yours — your values, your pattern, the question you haven't yet allowed yourself to ask — and move toward it.
